CHASE COHL + LITTLEDOE

'Chase Cohl, the singer-songwriter turned accessories maven behind the Littledoe label, went into design on a whim. The craft fanatic sourced vintage materials to make herself a floral headband; it caught the attention of her friends, who urged her to go into business. Any fears she may have had were quelled during the shoot for her first look book, when a chance meeting with the singer Fergie led to two of her pieces being purchased on the spot.
Cohl incorporates gems, crystals and feathers into her work, making it all very Lady of the Canyon, a nostalgic take on ’60s southern California that has found fans among latter-day bohemians like Kate Hudson and the Olsen twins. Her crystal necklaces range from $300 to $400, while the hand-stitched custom headdresses that are her calling card start at $300. Since the company’s humble beginnings a little over two years ago, Cohl has graduated from college (she studied Native American poetry) and is now spending more time in Los Angeles. “I love New York,” she explains, “but we weren’t getting along too well.”
